The Author

I grew up an avid reader with a love for stories of fantasy and adventure. Beyond the Elderwood began as a very small collection of short stories and story ideas inspired by the works of Lloyd Alexander, J.R.R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis and Terry Brooks. Some years after relocating to Memphis, the manuscript was completed (1998) and I was very excited to copyright my first novel!

Then life happened – family, career . . . fishing.

Initially, there was no plan to write a second novel, let alone a series. But somewhere along the way, the story continued on its own accord.

The Stone of Orinn and The Hand of Rhugoth continue the adventure and are currently available on Amazon.

The Crown and the Coven is the fourth installment of the series, and is now available on Amazon.

Also available on Amazon is my newest novel, Maikeru, a stand alone work of fantasy inspired by many Saturday mornings watching the classics of samurai cinema. Maikeru is an adventure for all ages and could well take place in the Elderwood universe.

Acknowledgements

I need to express my gratitude to my children, who endured the long hours their father spent writing and rewriting.

Thanks are also in order to a talented and dedicated critique group made up of Memphis area writers – Belinda, Bill, Brittney, and those who came and went. Your collective critiques and nit picking over the years are greatly appreciated.

To Brittney, April, and Betty, who both lent their editing skills and sharpened my own.

Monica Haynes, who created the perfect covers for the first three books, from my scatter-brained notes and thoughts.

And finally, to those roped into reading those nearly final manuscripts. Your input, thoughts, and advice were invaluable.
